A great pleasure to greet you again!
As we announced last week, this time we will share with you the second part of the article by our colleague Sergio Sosa, which we are sure will be as well received as the first part.

In this video we can see more of the things we could do to "virtualize" equipment work:
- Some kids who share school activities but in different schools and in remote locations (only distant from the standpoint of geographic location)
- Extensive use of "cloud computing" (or computing the cloud) to access various documents from anywhere in the world.
- Projects carried out in collaborative work environments (just based on cloud computing)
- Using geolocation augmented reality to interact with people everywhere.
- conjugated with videoconferencing virtual simulations.
- history of communications between mobile devices (and will not only cell phones)
- Many others ...
When will all this available?
Microsoft believes that this will be possible for the 2019 (just 8 years from now)
However, I wonder if our organizations (mainly, our own paradigms management teams) are prepared to use these "new" technologies. I think the problem is not with the technology available to virtualize teams, but in the mental models prevailing in those who lead the teams.
The cloud computing is already with us for a while but there are still many people who do not dare to do things in the cloud ... too many people are printing documents for review with their teams when there are different ways to make such revisions ... too many people in organizations are hesitant to use applications that allow them to keep track of communications between them and their collaborators ... in short, is still prevalent organizational management based on plots of power, always impose huge restrictions on virtualization teams.
What might be Some requirements for effective desktop virtualization work?
- Review our models of talent management: the virtualization of teams requires a lot of flexibility but also requires the achievement of objectives.
- effective delegation: in a virtual team is imperative that each of the employees really know what their roles within the team and what is the scope of its management. A model of effective delegation should include: outcomes, clear guidelines, resources allocated for the achievement of tasks, accountability mechanisms and consequences (Both good and bad)
- Value added: each team member should know that he was hired because it dominates a set of skills that make him an exceptional talent and he is expected to add value to the team.
- Digital skills: we can not work effectively in a virtual machine if we do not know how to use some tools available at this time. Additionally, each team member must have an "insatiable appetite" to learn more about new technologies and tools available.
- Assign high priority to training of employees both their skills related to the position as the digital skills needed to achieve high performance in managing virtual work spaces.
- Check our paradigms about what is "high performance." We must eradicate some concepts that we have ingrained: a person is not necessarily effective because they present every day at their jobs and meet the schedule that you have scheduled, effectiveness does not mean working overtime every day and weekends. This is important to remember that the effectiveness is related to the achievement of objectives.
- valuing diversity. Diversity is the mother of creativity and innovation ... if we do not value diversity, be very difficult for our teams are really innovative (this applies to both virtual machines, and equipment "traditional" work) OK
- that virtualization of teams contributes to a significant saving of resources, relocation costs, facility maintenance costs, costs related to the "reunionitis" (terrible disease prevalent in many of the organizations.
One caveat: we must not make virtualization work teams as a fashion and pretend virtualize all activities of an organization. There are still things that require the presence of a human being to carry them out so we should not "enamored" with the virtualization of teams. However, what we must do is to review each of our business activities to determine which are likely to be virtualized and start "experimenting" with some of them ... this will allow us to learn and develop a set of best practices .
Finally, I leave a video for "We Are the World" but versioned by a group of artists for YouTube ... what This video relevant to the topic we have been developing? It was recorded entirely in different parts of the world ... each of the artists featured in the video made his own recording from its geographical location and then the producers "put together the puzzle" ... the result is great and shows that other great things can be done virtually if we truly seek it.
V alues \u200b\u200bmuch the comments made to this note ...
We said goodbye until next Monday, when share with you a couple of good initiatives that will keep us Linked!
Greetings and keep in touch!
